Help me decide on which Panda

Hi guys.

So Im looking to build a 6PPC rifle. Weight is not really a concern since I wont be competing for awhile, just with my self at the local range.

I know that I want a Panda action, Right bolt, left port, right eject. The TG ejector sounds like the way to go.

I have a Sightron SIII 10-50x60 with Burris signature zee rings to mount on this rifle.

Where I need help deciding is should I go with an F-Class with the picatinny rail? Is the 20moa rail necessary at 100-200 yds? Any benefit to having a built in recoil lug for the 6PPC cartridge?

Also curious if a microport is worth the extra cost?

As always, thanks for all the help and advice.

bitch,,,,since you asked,,,the F-class is a great action,,,however I prefer the dovetail base rather than the picatany ,,,and the 20 moa slant will not hurt you at 100/200 yds,,and will be very helpful if you ever go with a cal other than ppc for long range,,,,get the .308 bolt face that will work with ppc as well as BR/Dasher and any ctgs with 308 case head (06/280/284/etc) and the recoil lug will help if you go to one of the larger cals,,,,the F-class weighs the same as the std Panda (go to Kelblys web site and check it out),,you cant make 10 1/2 lbs with a 2 lb scope!!! It sounds like (2 lb-10 0z--(42 oz)you are wanting to use a nightforce ??? if you use a scope lighter than 24 oz you can make it ,,,,every scope I have can be zeroed properly at 100 yds with the 20moa dovetail and Kelbly rings (Leu 36/Leu 45/March/etc),,if you want the lighest combo try a Kodiak with dual ports,,,it has the 20 moa rib as an option,,,hope this helps,,,Roger

If you are someday thinking of competeing in the future than you have to think about your rifle weight, so that will direst you to the correct action. if you are going to build a 6 PPC then build a 6 PPC with the right action, If you want an F class gun than build off a F class action

Is weight the only thing the makes an F-class action the "wrong" action for a 6PPC built for benchrest competition?

I suggest you pick a weight for your build if you plan on shooting matches down the road, that will help you decide which components best fit your needs. I have a ppc/dasher 2 barrel setup at hv weight and like that system alot. Good luck

Heavy Varmint likely. My scope/rings are 2lbs 10oz. Would that make it difficult to stay below 10.5?

I never said the fclass action was the wrong action, I have both the F class and the panda. What I said was that if he is going to compete in 100- 300 yd. he has to stay in the weight class with a 6 PPC LV or HV

Be careful with the 20moa built in rail. Your scope may not have enough adjustment to get on paper at 100 yards

If you don't plan to shoot 1000 yds I would just go with the standard panda dual port action with tg ejector. A great action.

kelblys also has a new action coming out in about 5-6 months that is basically the kodiac action but in steel with a black nitride coating. This is the action i decided on for my next build that there doing.

I'll have to check that out but I dont think I have that kind of patience. lol.

I think I'm going to look for a nice used (or new at a great price) RBLPRE Panda with a TG ejector for my PPC build. Looks like I'm going to have to find a lighter scope than the Sightron and going with kelbly rings seems like the way to go.

I just put a wanted to buy lv ppc ad on here and received several offers for pandas with the tg ejector . I found what I was looking for in a couple days. May give that a try, lots of nice used stuff out there. Good luck.
