I have a Remington shotgun that was left to me years ago. it's a sportsman 12 gauge pump with a fixed modified choke . I want to replace the barrel so I can change choke tubes to deer hunt and turkey hunt with it .. but what barrel would fit this model?? 870 barrels ?
I also have a browning lite 12 I'm wanting to de the same with but dont see any options as well for it ...
Thanks

Find a buddy with an 870 and see if the barrel fits. It sure looks like an economy model of the 870 Wingmaster, probably before they made the Express 870.

Tons of 870 barrels out there with rem-chokes. Find a used one to your liking.

I'd venture the guess that the only barrels that would not fit are the various LT barrels and the Special Field barrels.

I have that exact same gun. It was a KMart special. It is a 870 and most parts exchange no problem. One thing you will see is the new barrels do not have the detent on the ring to lock the barrel nut. All the express guns don't have it it so you will either need to find a older actual 870 barrel or you need to get a wave washer from Wilson combat. It will help lock the barrel nut. That and the magazine cap is the only difference.

AND -- ya may want to check to see it it's a 2 3/4" or a 3" gun. Back in "the day" there were 2 3/4 inchers. I don't recall if the difference was just the barrel/chamber, or the action/ejection port. jd

This one is a 3in gun .

Per the internet: The Remington Sportsman 12 and Remington 870 are part interchangeable, but the fit and finish may be lacking on the Sportsman12. The Sportsman is a pump-action shotgun with a 28" barrel, while the 870 is available in both pump-action and semi-automatic versions12. The 870 is known for its durability and popularity among hunters

Thats AI for you. Don't trust much of what it comes up with.

YES that is the washer you will need if using the new barrels. If you look on your barrel, look where the ring goes over the mag tube. You will see the little ball bearing and how it locks into the mag tube nut. The nut has dimple all around the flat surface. The new barrels do not have that. It locks the nut by the mag tube spring clip that holds the spring in the tube.
