HELP FINDING AN AR10 PART

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
I have been looking all over the internet for an extended rear takedown pin for an Armalite ar-10.Alot of vendors seem to have ones for the dpms and remington ar10 but not the armalite. Can anyone tell me if they know if anyone makes them as mine is now a fixed box magazine due to our laws in new york state. Please dont bash me for living here as I cannot leave ,I have to take care of my aging mother till the end period so I am not leaving just yet.Thank you in advance if you can help me.

John if you or a buddy have a lathe and a mill you could use your old one as a pattern and make one. It would probably be better than any you can buy. If not find a steel one and weld a knob on it. I don't think I know anywhere that sells anything of the armalite type. I will call a friend in a minute that's in the know and might know a place. Matt

John,
Talked to my friend about it and he told me he knows of none for the armalite. He is making some phone calls himself to a few more folks in the industry to see if there is one out there. For now I would be finding a machine shop. That might be the only way. I am gonna keep my feelers out and may get lucky. I have not got a pin for the armalite so I am not sure what the dimensions are. I am not sure how much different they are than the dpms pattern. I just know that they are not the same. Matt

How much more length do you need? If you really get stuck and can't make one, look into a JP AR 10 rear tensioning pin. These are pricey and would be a hassle to quickly remove, but may work. I believe they are 0.281 OD.

I have a long pin in my DPMS lower. Don't know what brand of pin, I bought the entire rifle used. Diameter is .248, length of bare pin is 1.197, total overall length is 1.832.
Did you check JoeBobOutfitters.com? He's got a ton of AR stuff.
