Helos BTR 1-4.5×24 ATSR3 SFP Or Leupold Mark AR Service Rifle Scope

What do you know about either one for service rifle? Glass quality, tracking, durability, etc.? New to scopes for service rifle and need suggestions. I am on a budget.

Number of guys in service rifle competition at ISRA use and like the Helos BTR 1-4.5×24mm scope. Tracking is excellent according to them. They also use this scope in AR air rifle league. I bought this scope based on their recommendations and trying the scope on their air rifle uppers. They said customer service was excellent. I shoot f class air rifle during the off season. If you can't afford Nightforce or March this is a good choice. Scope has parallax adjustment from 10 yds to 600 yds. Like the ATSR3 SFP reticle. Glass looks good to me.

I set up my service rifle (AR) with a Vortex PST 1-4x Gen 1 scope. Liked it so much, I bought a second one to mount to my hunting brush gun (Ruger #1 45-70). I have found my scopes to track well and like the reticle. If you can find a 1st Gen PST, might be a value opportunity. I got mine when the Gen2 were just released and think I paid about $400 each on clearance.

Here's a post from National Match Competition forum on the Helos 1.5-4x:

Saw one fail last Sunday on 100 yard reduced

It will go back after Perry

Shooter has March as primary and leupold backup for Perry and bought this to try this

Barrel New Krieger

Afterwards it was mounted on 6br benchrest gun and failed box text on Electronic trainer

Bummer to read about the rate of failures here than many of us had hoped to see for this scope. Same for the Hi Lux with more frequent quality and repeatability issues reports than many had hoped.

Not every unit is failing and it is good to hear the manufacturers are standing behind these products and sending new units promptly. Doesn't help if it fails at the worst time while traveling to a big match.

There have also been reports of the high $$ scopes failing from time to time and goes with the known fact that nothing mechanical is 100% immune from failure no matter the initial cost.

So as of this point in time; That only leaves Nightforce and March Priced $copes as proven reliable 1/4 MOA clicks. ( New Leupold's more to follow )

I think the one thing 100% of people here Agree on is " No matter 1/4 MOA or other the clicks Must BE repeatable"

Tuff $$ pill to swallow for those that like to have two complete identical (except for maybe barrel / round count) service rifle uppers.
