heavy sand , zircon,chromite, or granet sand where to buy

Looking for a place to get some heavy sand for bags.

Check with your local sandblasting companies.. I use aluminum oxidize from one of the shops here..

Thats the difference between heavy sand and what the other are mentioning..

Heavy sand weighs quite a bit more per volume than silica sand, and it is for that property that it is used. That weight helps to keep rear bags from moving around on the bench. I have used garnet sand because it is available locally, and is almost identical in density to zircon. BTW if you look up zircon sand, and look at images, I think that you will come to the conclusion that the black sand that is sold by some shooting suppliers is not zircon...which really shouldn't matter, except that one sanctioning body had been a bit too specific in their rules (my opinion).
I only use heavy sand in the bases of rear bags, in front bags, or the ears of rear bags. This is because I prefer the stacking/packing characteristics of relatively coarse silica sand for these applications. I have not seen my silica sand change particle size over time.
