I helped a guy put together a 8 twist benchmark barreled remmy 700 and have no idea were to start for powder and amounts.
hoping the barrel likes 75 amaxes. :D Im guessn H4831, H4350, RL 19, RL 22 and maybe Rl 17 of which I have layn around to try.
Any ideas??

Check out the sierra loading manual. They have data for the 80 smk. That should give you a good start.

I use IMR 4831 in my 22-250ai behind the 75 and 80 rain bullets and it works very well.

Hornady's 8th edition has load data for the 75 and 80 gr. A-max. I'm running 37gr of H-4350 with the 75's in mine . Good luck & good shooting,
Alton9

Try the 4350 and the 75 amax

I couldn't tell you load since I am shooting the 22-250ai, but those two together work well

Hornady lists H4350 from 31.5-37.2 grains with the 75 Amax. Worked up a load for my buddies 1/9 22-250 with 36 grains H4350. It is accurate in his rifle and also proved to be an accurate fireforming load for my 22-250AI.

Howdy -

I shot a .224" calibre wildcat of my own design, w/ case capacity between .22-250 & .220 Swift.

From a 28" K & P SS 1-8 5-grrove, my most accurate all-around load was:
75 "A"-Max 40.5gr AA3100 Fed LR Magnum Match = 3,500fps max load, good accuracy
" " " " Fed LR Match = 3,420fps best accuracy

IMHO -
RL-22 would be "slow" on vel, in a similarly configrued .22-250 rifle.
4831 & RL-19 might prove to be viable choices for your application ( AA3100 outshot 4831... my gun )

I'm using N550 behind 75gr A-MAXs and it's pretty good. It's hard powder to find though. When I rebarrel it soon I'm going to try and stick with 4350 or something more locally available. The Amax is a staple though, I just ordered 600 more.

37 gr H4831 75 Amax works in my 8 twist Hart barrel. 22 250 with Rem 91/2 primer. The powder I am using is pulldown from the early 50's, fresh as the day it was made, Shoots small groups. A friend bot 50 lbs of it in the 70's for $1.00 per lb., gave me all I wanted, Shoots better than RL15 in my gun.

The new Berger reloading manual is a wealth of information. It has me considering rebarreling my 22-250 in a 1 in 8 twist. "This cartrage becomes the perfect wind resistant coyote round, with a 24 inch barrel in 8 twist and 75 grain Berger Match VLD target bullet at 3250 fps deflecting a 10 mile an hourright angle wind just 6.44 inches at 300 yards." and 11.4 inches at 400 yrds" guessing bye fps in load data powder was re 15 at max charge 32.3 g 3263 fps regardless folks if you do not have bergers new manual I highley recomend . It is a excellent read so far! I also have the new Hornady and Nosler Manuals but bergers outshines them all! 24.95 at Midway a Bargain.

Shooting heavy bullets in a 22-250 is like having a different caliber altogether especially when compared to a 14 twist.
