Heavy bullet 22-250 and an 8 twist barrel.

Looking to develop my 7t 22-250 with 90s or 88s any starting load recommendations?

First, not a big thing, but you posted in a thread that hasn't seen discussion since 2015.

That being said, I would suggest being careful with the 90-class bullets in that barrel unless it is very short. Same, if the barrel is really worn, choppy throat, etc.

7-twist, at the speeds the -250 can generate, is going to really stress those jackets if you elect to push very much at all.

The caliber length of those bullets is pretty long, and it doesn't take much instability--from, say, an over-torqued jacket and core that have separated a little--to cause them to poof. You'll be pushing up against 300,000 RPM. That might not usually be a problem, but it could be with the 90's.

It only takes about 275,000 RPM to make them stable, so keep that in mind as you are looking at speeds and deciding what to do.

This is my second post. I have asked on other boards and no response.
I am considering something in 224 caliber moving faster than 223 or 223 ai for longer range flat shooting on coyotes. I do crop damage control shooting. I've got the hogs down, 223, 6x47ai, 6.5 Grendel, and 6.8spc. I've got bigger game down too. 308 to 338LM.
The problem I have at night is range estimation on coyotes where the margin of error is more critical than with other animals. Friends use 243 with 85 grain bullets and I have in the past as well.

Since I have several hundred pieces of 22-250 brass, dies, and more bullets than I need for the 223, and I have a Hart 8 twist barrel, I was thinking...... heavy barrel fast 22-250 with 75, 77, and 80 grain bullets... that I can use with the surefire socom suppressor.... I've got all the parts to do this with. Other calibers that might be better choices, I don't have the parts..

I need guidance from some people who have tried this caliber and combo. All comments are appreciated.

I have a 22-250 on a 7 twist Hawk Hill barrel that screws onto AT/AW rifles. It has taken a few medals over at Pleasant Hill matches but no shots fired "in anger" to date. I've shot 77SMK, 88ELDM and a few 80VLD ahead of healthy doses of H4350 but have not pushed it to the outer limits of velocity at all. The 22-250 is a favorite of mine and the ones I own have taken thousands and thousands of prairie dogs over the years. Nothing more fun than watching prairie rats fly!
I'll be back down your way in late August, sooner if you want to give my 22-250 a demo ride.

I use H414 with 75's and have had good luck. I haven't had the problems on at days though. But it is a laser and shoots so good that I cannot bring myself to change it.

22-250/8 twist barrel running 69-80 grain bullets, give H4350 a shot( RL23 is another option). Start with the H4350. 36.2 - 37.0 should yield 3200- 3300 fps with 75s. 37.4 (3320) was my sweet spot with 75 Amax. I think you'll be happy.
