Heavy bolt lift???

I have to agree that you now need to check trim length on all new Lapua 6BR norma brass. I just loaded up 50 cases that would not chamber in a known good chamber that is set for .002" longer at the shoulder than the go gage.

Since I trust nobody but me in anything anywhere anytime, I check these cases before annealing, after annealing and before loading the first time. Did I mention that I anneal new cases? Anyway, out of the 50 I just loaded--14 failed to chamber before FL sizing the first time and 16 more failed afterward, but before shooting. Checking the cases with a Wilson case gage revealed some of the long necks, but none of the too thick necks--did I mention I don't turn unless necessary? Still, trusting nobody no time I did check the neck thickness and caught the miscreants before loading bullets into them. I guess the days of the too thin Lapua necks are gone now in the blue box lots..............

A long time ago I noticed that I would sometimes get a hard bolt lift but a nice happy spent primer in my rounds. Using a small base FL die fixed that for me. I should mention that not all barrel makes or smiths use the same reamer so a small base die may not be necessary in all cases or even most.......

1st and easiest is to measure the shell holder....I've found enough of a difference that I color code them ( drop of paint) after they have been altered.

Nat you are a genius.I wish my darn printer was working so I could copy what you just put up on this thread.I was looking at your kit last night. Could you send that in an email to: jonbearman@yahoo.com?
