Heavier buffer / spring in a 308 AR ?

What you really need is a good muzzle brake. A heavier buffer may help a little but I wouldn't bet on it. Its like mercury reducers that I had in a shotgun. Truthfully I didn't feel it helped that much. A brake will do you right and the jp tank brake even though it is ugly to some is a really super brake.

Thank you for the info on the buffer, and agree that the JP "tank" brake is probably the most efficient at reducing recoil especially in weapons chambered for 308 and larger.
I had to laugh the other day when I was researching brakes I came across one that claimed their brake would reduce recoil by 80 %, the kicker was that it was a radial design.
