Headspace problem

Same shell holder. Gonna play around with it in a little bit and see what I come up with.

The factory annealing could be the problem but I also tried it on some older brass that was just annealed and sized properly in the past and I still saw the same thing. I just can't imagine that the expander would be doing this much. Gonna polish it up a little as well to see if that makes a difference.

If you compare the ODs of necks sized without and with the expander, what is the difference? If you want to use the expander, the bushing should be selected for a difference in diameters of about .001, and with that little amount of expanding, you should barely be able to feel the pull when the expander passes through the neck.

I completely agree. I turned this expander down to size back .0008" a while back to do exactly what you said. It's there just to straighten out the insides of my necks usually resulting in around .001" runout in the inside of the neck. It's been cleaned and checked and I don't notice anything out of the ordinary but something is going on. Still leaning towards an inferior batch of lube.
