I think that something is amiss with how you are using or setting up the Hornady. I use one all the time, and it works fine for me, and everyone else that I know that has one. I should add that it is not the only tool of its type that I have or have used. Could you post a picture of your setup with the Hornady and a case, as if you were taking a measurement?
