HBN Coating in Bulk - Help Please

So, based on the comments and recommendations here and that I received via PM's I decided to try just dumping the bullets into the small Lyman tumbler bin and adding the HBN powder. It works great, the bullets are getting coated evenly and I'm pleased with the results. However an unforeseen issue is that the tumbler is very VERY loud with just bullets in it. So, I can only run it at certain times so as to not disturb the wife or baby.....but it works well and it is still faster than coating 150 bullets at a time for the bottle method.

Thanks all for your help.

If they are cleaned and bagged, no.

Do have to be careful of your bowl, it can get contaminated, such as with soft points, gotta scrub and start over after a batch of exposed lead tip soft points. Std hollow point meplat or tipped the bowl stays clean. Doesn't take hours, 30-45 min. Heat (125F-150F) helps. Wet or dry.

I wanted to bump this back up and say thanks to GrocMax for the tips.

I had been having great luck coating with hbn, but recently noticed it was taking forever to get them to look just right. The bowl was getting a bit gross looking so I wiped it all down and started over. Hadn't thought of it, but I'll make sure the bowl gets cleaned a bit more regular like.

Cutting out the degreasing was a good move too. Don't remember how I got talked into doing that crap.

I sure appreciate picking up little gems like this from guys that actually shoot.

Thanks GrocMax!

I guess that's why the Internet acronym, YMMV exists. Plenty of people who actually are "shooters", that shoot more in a year than most will in a lifetime , do it differently.

Glad you found a method that works for you. Glad I found one that I like too. I've said for years, there's more than one way to skin this cat.

Good luck and carry on.
