Having a Bolt Made???

Howdy, new poster, long time reader.

I wound up with a Browning Safari that started as a 30-06 and the guy had it re chambered for 300 win mag. who ever did the work, also relieved the bolt face and now there is nothing to hold the brass for the ejector, so it won't remove casing.

My question is- can this bolt be fixed? or if not does anyone have any suggestions for acquiring a new bolt or possibly having one made?

I could be wrong,but if you go to the schematics page on Brownells web page and look for your make and model,it might get you out.

If the old bolt is not too badly cobbled, it can be redone by a competant. You have to come up with approx .030 on a side,getting in on the low side of the tolerance) which can be done in any number of ways. Beam welded sleeve or spray weld comes to mind a lot cheaper than doing the whole bolt thing. Headspace may have to be put back in tolerance too. This is duck soup for any toolmaker.

Thanks for the reply's. I'll give a local smith a try and see what he can do. Wasn't sure if it was even doable.

At 40~60 bucks an hour with 5 to 8 hours of work trying to get an old bolt back into tolerances it will be cheaper for you to buy the new bolt head. Not to mention time constraints and confidence the material has been returned to a safe state and heat treated or stress relieved properly.

Sorry, my bolts are for Browning A-bolts. I didn't realize what type of rifle you were refering to.

IF you have an older Browning Safari bolt rifle, they were made using commercial mauser actions. You should be able to use a M98 bolt and have a suitable handle fitted.
