have you tried a Jewel trigger on a Barnard action?

With a hanger conversion for Jewel the Barnard trigger can be replaced. On our oldest Barnard action we had a slam fire, trigger is not adjusting and may need new springs, (may have the light ones in it, not sure, purchased used)?

could be an opportunity to upgrade, are the improvements/modification worth it?

The Barnard trigger I have is great down to 5-6oz when adjusted properly. No creep and no need for a jewell in my opinion. But if you need a 1oz trigger, try a bixnandy. They should hang the same as a jewell I believe.

yes, our other one works well at 7oz, have not been able to adjust this one lower than 13-14oz, went through adjusting sear engagement etc 3 times. I assumed the light spring set is in it, but it may not be. I have a couple of sets on the way.
There maybe rounding on the sear, it just does not look as crisp as the other trigger. Seeing a new one is $300, looking at alternatives that maybe better was on my mind.

Just had the same issue with a Barnard trigger. Went with a Jewel and hanger and it works pefect.

In the hanger kit, is the new top lever and trigger simple to swap?
What about the trigger blade position?

It is very easy to change. The blade position is set farther back. It would not work in the original chassis we had because of the chassis design. Here are a couple pics to give you an idea.

Thank you for the info and the pics, excellent. Looks like there maybe some clearance issues towards the buttstock as well? Our stocks are the laminated wood types, I wonder if this will even work with the current trigger guards??????????????

What did you end up using for a stock/chassis?

Will this system work with a B&A or other triggers? I noticed on Barnards site that a different hanger was offered for the Timney, and now they even offer a blank hanger.

Hoping someone responds who has installed in a wood/laminated stock that may have had a standard Barnard trigger first.

There will possibly be a genuine Bix'N'andy trigger available for Barnard actions if not this year, then next. Andy Atzl had requested a Barnard action to play around with and I believe they did send him one. I don't know what this stage this project is at though.

I have 3 jewell triggers and a Barnard with the factory trigger. I prefer the Barnard.

Personally, I'd contact Whidden and get the Barnard trigger working properly.

Have two new sets of light springs on the way ordered them over the weekend, hope they arrive soon.

Still am curious why a BA would not work if a Jewel fits in the Barnard hanger, something in the design possibly makes it that specific?

Finally received the hangers today. So an update, since I could not find instructions anywhere.

Hanger is of good quality, comes with pins and a new top lever for the trigger.
Yes, you have to take down the Jewel and replace the top lever, not difficult if you are a bit mechanical.
Place trigger in hangar and gently tap the pins in, one took a bit more than gentleness, but everything fits.
Use the supplied bolt to install on the action, works great, trigger weight is as delivered from Jewel, and the trigger is crisp, the machining of the top lever must be precise.

Ok, now nothing fits on the stock. The back of the hanger is even with the action, while the Barnard trigger is not, so the Laminated stock needs to be milled, ground or, etc, close to 1/4 of an inch.
There maybe an issue after the stock is relieved with the fit against the trigger guard, I am sure the top of the guard will require some relief, and then we will see.

The trigger being back will improve the length of pull for this junior, but the stock work takes this project out of the drop-in category.
