Have Mosin, need project. Ideas? Excluding sell it!

Ive got an old mosin and a lathe, and a desire to waste alot of time and little money. So with that outa do way, what are some interesting big bore options.
I have seen 45/70 and a 450 marlin. Saw a 405Win but that would be extra expensive. I have a 444 reamer, but no brass or dies.
have 45/70 brass and dies but no reamer.
Anyone ever play with the 458x54R?
So in short I want to build a thumper on a cheap rifle using a cheap G.M. tube.
Ive already got a 9.3x62 on a mauser so I would like to be at least one league up from there. Thanks

30/40 , 444 Marlin , 45/70 , 6 x 54ack ,45 long colt, 50/70 , you could bore this one !
No matter how you do it , besides a 444 a reamer rental is in order

There's a guy made up a 7.62X54R Improved cartridge - I think it's called the 7.62X54R Bond, IIRC. He uses Lapua brass and mostly lathe-turned bullets, and gets some impressive velocity and accuracy. If I was going to do all that work and spend that much money, I would have gone with a .308 groove diameter, personally. Kind of the ultimate 'sow's ear into a silk purse' kind of thing, IMHO. I have the reamer prints, if anyone is interested. He used to have a Facebook page - dunno if it's still around or not.
