Have I made 30BR doughnut-less brass?

I did the 2 step expanding of the 6BR Lapua brass using the 21st Century mandrels20190819_132907.jpg 20190819_132918.jpg and have no doughnut! If you look at the brass on the right you may see what appears to be a doughnut but it can't be felt inside or out. Yes, I did take my time expanding but I think the "secret" was the lube I used. What do you think?

You'll know after you've fired the cases a few time.

I just know what works for me on the 30BR cases to get ahead of the donut....-Al
Hey Al,
Not sure I follow you, when forming the cases before I always had the doughnut,, what will. change after firing?
Thanks

They always look like that for whatever reason
Not really, I've done several hundred 30BR and these are the first that I have had without a doughnut that you could feel (raking a fingernail over it) and when you turn the neck there is quite a bit of difference when it gets to the hump EDIT: when it get to the hump on the others with the doughnut but not on these. Help me out here, not trying to be a wise guy but just from my experience this is what I've seen, I still have a lot to learn so tell me your thoughts

Your cutter tales the tale. Even though you cant feel them they were there. It looks to me like that batch may have had a thinner neck to start with is why you only see it cutting on the donut im guessing with a cutter you already had set up

Sorry...I thought you were referring to the inside donut at the neck/shoulder junction.

On the outside...the 'lump' will always be there after necking up from 6 to .30 as the original shoulder is thicker than the neck. When the upper part of the original shoulder becomes the lower part of the new neck (after expanding), you get the 'lump'.

I'm surprised you can't feel it. In this mag'd up view, it pretty apparent.
