Has anyone tried to shoot Service Rifle XTC with the M14 with a scope?

I started shooting the M14 in XTC service rifle competition back at the time when they dug the river. I am currently shooting the AR match rifle with scope because I need cataract surgery. I enjoyed showing off to the young folks with the M14, "that old guy on firing point 14 with the antique rifle" but the cataracts are making me look pitiful. So I am thinking about shooting the M14 with a scope but at my age I do not need another research project. I would like to simply copy what works. Have any of you done this?

We have a guy in MT that is shooting XTC with an M1A and a Nightforce SR scope. If I remember correctly he had to add one of those strap on cheekpieces also.

I don't know how old you are but that is awesome to see an older guy still shooting XTC with a 14 for fun.
(I'm 59 and have only ever shot AR based service rifles)

I say,
get the cataracts fixed and go back to the fun you were having...
Cheers, George

I could never get it to work. I’d kind of get there but didn’t feel right. Maybe I didn’t find the right way to get the scope forward enough. Regardless, you’ll need a cheek rest pad

Get the cataract's fixed. U won’t believe the difference it will make. Saves the price of a scope n mount for ur 14.
