Has anyone heard of optics agent?

I’m looking for buying a new Leupold scope and they are a lot cheaper than everyone else. I’m wondering if it’s a scam website? I almost sounds to good to be true that’s why I’m assuming it’s a scam. If anyone was purchased anything for them can you please chime in.
Thank you Jason.

I've not heard of them before either and I've been buying and shopping scopes for a very long time (early 70's). But I just compared their pricing to that of Optics Planet and Killough Shooting Sports that I've bought scopes from in the more recent past (say 10 years) past. Optics Agent is a fair amount ($100+ lower) on their Leupolds, but equal to or a bit higher on their Weavers. I also compared their prices on some Leupolds I own (Competition 35X, Competition 45X and Mark I/AR Scope) to other vendor pricing and they beat most other vendors pricing as well. Might just be a difference in the number of scopes they buy at one time from the manufacturer. I did note that though Optics Agent has a variety of scopes available, their higher end scopes don't include some of the more expensive scopes on the market except for Leupold and Sightron. But I'd give them a call nonetheless for further info such as how long they've been in business, where they are located, etc. I'd also wait and see if other members contact you regarding this outfit to see if there are any negative comments regarding their service, etc.

Alex,

i know that you did a compare of the prices on the 35 and the 40 power competition scopes.. but they have been discontinued for sometime now.. back in the spring.. a friend of mine whom is a major Leupold dealer in the mid USA, told me that after checking with Leupold, that at the time.. there were only 2 40X left in stock.. So for them to still have those listed (as a hook to make you think that you can still get them i guess) is bad juju in my book.. anyone that don't keep their website current i have a trend to shy away from.. that is just me..

Morning Doc,
You may want to check that info you have on the discontinued 35X and 45X Scope. What they discontinued (according to my info) was the Fine Cross Hair (without the Dot), but they still make the 35x and 45x with the Mili Dot Cross Hair Reticle. Those continue to be sold, not discounted or notice of discontinuance by any of at least 5 reputable vendors I am aware of and have checked their websites.

Morning to you as well.. (as i have java, eggs and biscuits and gravy!) Yeah.. i never asked him about MilDot.. wasn't interested in that.. nor did he ever disclose info about them.. I guess.. the tacticool dudes would like them.. so there ya go.. learned something today.. never stop learning..

Mark,
You may want to GOOGLE Optics Agent.com. when you enter www.opticsagent.com a completely different website comes up than the ones you listed.

Alex........The sites I listed were forums asking the same question as the OP, which I understand to be is whether its a legit sight or not. I listed those sights to show that people had made purchases and received product, albeit its not an endorsement by me. It is still early here, so I may be misunderstanding your point, I probably need more coffee.

Mark,
Guess it's my bad. I misunderstood your post and thought you'd run the name and came back with those sites. I'm not endorsing the questioned site either. Just trying to figure out if it's a legit website or a scam. Thx for the response as I'm not trying to confuse the issue of legitimacy of the site.

FWIW, OpticsPlanet has always matched any better price I have found on the web. I just send them an email with the link to the website with the better price. I don't work for OpticsPlanet, but do like their service, free shipping, and return policy.

Hi again Doc,
I can only add that four of the five legit websites I queried show the 45X Mil dot as "Backordered" and the other (Optics Planet) had them in stock. But I would expect any respectable retailer (three of the four are site sponsors) would give notice as did Bruno's when they were down to their last Fine Crosshair 45X (which I bought at a discount and a few bucks cheaper than what the question website is selling the current Leupold 45X milidot 45X for). So in relying on those other known reliable websites, I'm assuming (probably not a smart thing to do) that the product is current and is being made for sale. Even Leupold's website makes no mention of discontinuing the 45X milidot reticle scope and they usually advise if a product is or they intend to quit making it. Merely info...just wouldn't want to see Leupold loose sales because of a false belief that a product is being discontinued. Articles more recently written, have relayed that Leupold isn't spending as much money on advertisement as they once did and hence they're sales have dipped from years ago. I remain a BIG fan of Leupold scopes from years past both because of personal use as well as in a professional role in using one when it was critical as a Sniper function against the bad guys when needed. Now I do recognize other manufacturers have since emerged that have a better product. But then you pay for what you get and I'm pleased with what Leupold delivered in my purchases.

Thank you all for responding and looking up the website for me. It’s funny I usually buy from optics’s planet or Euro Optics. I’m going to call Optic Agent tomorrow morning and see if I can get ahold of someone. If it seems fishy I will call Optic Planet and see if they price match and probably just order from them.
Thank you
Jason
