Hart blanks vs

That's actually 7 words. I have an issue when people say that. It seems like a lazy way to justify your own personal purchase. Just because someone hasent used that specific barrel doesn't mean it's not top tier. Why aren't we taking into account the reloads and wind reading of competitors? Literally dozens of other factors. Not saying that a green mountain blank is going to outshoot a bart, but I don't think looking at an equipment list of someone with a different skill level than me is going to help. I can't put on Jordans shoes and dunk. I can't pick up tiger woods clubs and golf.
Completely understand the need to figure out things for ourselves. And, when looking at the equipment used by competitors, it's important to consider the accuracy requirements of the discipline they are in along with what we need our own application.

That said, if there's a bunch of competitors at the top of the rankings using the same barrel [and, their accuracy requirements are the same or tighter than mine], I can be confident that barrel is not going to hold me back.

Not to say that other barrel brand wouldn't also not hold me back, but it's the easy button [a form of laziness]. By being lazy on this aspect, I have more time to just practice instead of evaluating barrels.

I think Green Mountain is a great example. From my experience and reports from others, Green Mountain would be a great choice for 'across the course', PRS and, maybe, pdogging. Not so much for F Class or Benchrest.

I have built several rifles with Hart barrels with a lot of different calibers and they all shot very well. The most accurate barrel I ever have had to date was a Hart on my 6-284 until I burnt the barrel up from years of shooting.

My 220 swift has a Hart on it now and it shoots. Unless he changed something Shawn Carlock from Defensive Edge was using Hart barrels exclusively on his builds so I would not be afraid to use a Hart barrel.

As far as the Hart barrel thing, Boyer started out using them and then when Hart sold the company the quality he said when down and he went to Shilens. Then the same thing happened to the Shilens and he went to Krieger then Bartlein. When I bought all 198 barrels from him he did have about a dozen Hawk Hills and he liked them and his notes on each barrel was very positive for almost everyone but his records indicated that he hadn't used any of them in a match. Most of his barrels were Bartleins only because he was getting so many a year for free. I asked him if you had to buy one brand of barrel what would you buy and he said a Krieger. I know in IBS short range group Bartlein is the most used brand followed closely by Krieger. You mostly see the top shooters use those two brands. In IBS short range score the most popular brand by far is Brux followed by Kriegers. I have about 100 barrels that I have bought over the last 12 years from Rock Creek, Bartlein, Hawk Hill, Hart, Shilen, Douglas, Broughton, Lederer, ABC, Lilja, Krieger, Brux, Schneider, Spencer, Muller and Kostyshyn, and I can honestly say in a 30 caliber the Kriegers have been the winningest barrels for me. I do have one Hart 16 twist that has won me a decent amount of wood including a National 200 yard agg win but I only use it in my 30x47 at 2 and 300 yards and meters. I know Allie the year before he passed away he bought a Hart 17 twist and he was winning quite a few matches with it. It was a killer barrel. Most companies make some pretty good barrels and those same companies have made some real crap and it's not their fault. They are at the mercy of the steel that they buy, Every barrel company that I know has gotten bad batches of steel. But that's just the way it is. It's a roll of the dice when these barrel companies buy steel and it's a roll of the dice that you'll either get a piece of crap, a mediocre one a good one or if your super lucky a hummer.
@JimPag When did Hart sell and to whom?

I think some may have missed what I was asking. I'm shooting 300 yards and in, 99 percent of the time, And people are showing me what's winning at 1,000 yards. It's like me asking about putting, and then I'm taken to the section where they sell 9 irons and drivers lol. I do appreciate the info though! Also, Krieger is a 12-14 month wait for the blank I'd want, so I'm not going to do that. I'll probably end up with a brux, but I am going to get a hart for a 6br 10 twist. Well see if I can shoot the difference...highly doubtful with my skill level.

Chris Mackey on this site sells Kreiger barrels. If you would like a kreiger over a Brux look him up. I just bought 2 a couple weeks ago. Great guy to deal with.

I do not compete. But I like an accurate rifle. I have had a 22-250 40XB rebarreled at HArt, a used Hart 222 7 taper put on a 722 at Hart (my used Hart barrel and action, they did the work) , a Hart 12 TW 26 inch 220 Swift on an old Arisaka action put on at Hart, and bought a 20 cal 9TW that I had chambered and put on by another smith (20VT). All of them, despite being on odd ball actions or not made in BR chamberings, shoot under 1/4 inch at 100. The Swift and the VT will shoot 1/3 inch groups. I like the Harts in Apulia. Good people. The last barrel (20VT) was a covid project. I would buy from them again, no question.
