harris bipod

Going to purchase the 6"-9" br swivel model. Can't decide on the leg notch model or the standard one....Looks like the leg notch would give more adjustment on height...Anyone have experience with both?...pros and cons.....

Notch is easier and faster to use.

The big nut in the back of the bipod sets the tension for the swivel... set it so if you let go of the rifle, the rifle will stay in the same place, and won't flop over and land on the scope.

It shouldn't swivel "easily".

leg notch all the way! 6-9 is great for the hood or bench.very low and solid.tough with grass other than the lawn.,hay field?)
the 9-13 leg notch swivel/pod-lok will get the cat EVERY time!
the only reason you don't like the swivel is?
add a pod-lok!
there is no difference in height, with or without the notches.get the notches, swivel and pod-lok.
enjoy!

I bought the swivel model without notches on the legs and regret it. As everyone else is saying, be sure to get the notched model. Definitely add a Pod Loc. Also, attach a bubble level, such as the B-Square unit) to the rifle.

Look at a Parker Hale w/anti cant option.
The PH is alot sturdier than any Harris/Versa Pod on the market.

While you are looking at the Parker Hale bipod... look at the price - OUCHIE!!

The Parker Hale Bipod and a Spigot, the bipod won't work without a spigot) will run you about $350.

I have one on a 40 pound 50 BMG rifle, but they are NOT needed on a 10 or 15 pound rifle... and at ~5x the price of a Harris, they don't make any sense.

Yea, a PH/AI bipod is quite expensive, but you'll only have to buy one in a lifetime.

With a machined trunnion a PH or Versa Pod is rail mountable also.
OR
Do it the old fashion way & use the spigot/stud.

I love the swivel Harris bipods, but they need a added item to allow you to efficiently control the swivel feature. Get a Pod Lock which is a lever that replaces the small knob that locks the bipod from swiveling when shooting. Do a Google search for pod lock to get sources to purchase one.

I also like the notched legs much better than the other legs as they are easier to adjust and do not slip.
