HARRELS COMBO PRESS SEATING BULLETS

XXPER

Question Which is easier to use when seating bullets with Wilson dies ,an arbor press or the Harrells combo press? All comments welcomed.

Thank you,
xxper

I've never owned an arbor press and was lucky enough to get a Hood press (same lay-out as the Harrell's) and love it. The only advantage I see to an arbor press is they can be used anywhere -- in a car trunk, on the hood, in a chair, etc. I personally opt for the Hood/Harrell's which can be clamped just about anywhere and are very sturdy and have good feel. It's a personal "feeling" thing as either system will do the job just fine.

XXPER,
In my humble opinion, the word "easier" is relative to what you seek when reloading. Over the years, I've come to use three different presses (Redding Big Boss, RCBS Rockchucker and Sinclair Arbor) during the reloading process for every caliber I reload for and that is mostly because I believe each press provides me with "the feel" as I want to know things are consistent and going well at each phase. When it comes to Bullet Seating, I use strictly Wilson Dies and a Sinclair Arbor Press on my reloading bench. I cannot speak about a Harrel Combo Press as I've never used one. I do know that Harrel makes excellent presses, but I've just found a reloading regiment that "floats my boat." Just my thoughts. Good luck and have fun no matter which way you decide to go.

When I ended up with my Harrells combo and used it for a while, I sold off the arbor press.
It's pretty handy where ever you use it, altho it don't seem to make better ammo.......

They both work well. Loading at the range, the press has the advantage in not having to haul an extra piece. At home it is a toss up, but you may prefer the arbor press. I have both.

I will be reloading at the matches between relays and have found there is not a lot of extra time. I currently use an arbor press. Thanks to all who have responded

You get a better feel of the bullet seating with an arbor press. If you like to sort by seating ''feel'' you want an arbor press.
