Harrell’s sportsman press

Guys,

I am looking for reviews on the Harrell’s sportsman press. It looks like the hood press without the inline seating side, and a larger 4.2” stroke.

Looking at the picture at Harrel’s site, looks like this cannot be as rigid as the hood press.
Has anyone used this press? Thoughts would be appreciated.

I have one of their combo presses and it appears that this one is just a scaled up version without the arbor press die feature. My press is very well made and has a lot of leverage because the lever goes through a 180 degree arc. The link bars are steel and the pivot pins are very sturdy and well supported on both ends. On my Harrell's presses (I also have a turret.) the die threads are more closely fitted than for any other press that I have tried. I have no idea how this one is secured to the table, but the clamp on the back of mine could not be more secure. The mounting is very rigid.

I had that press and sold it, not because it is bad just didn't fit my need at the time. Great press and you will not be disappointed in it.

Maybe it's not. My own experience is that the Harrell's presses are precisely made and including the turret models plenty rigid enough regardless of model. Figuring leverage can be wild ass guessed as the ratio of hand movement on the lever to case movement on the ram I have no doubt any Harrell's press will do just fine.
