harrells powder measure

looking to throw powder and invest in a powder measure,

with the harrells gear what is the difference between the premium measure and the classic Culver?

any one got opinions on either?

looking to throw for Tac 20, .243, 7mm08, 30.06

Actually Sinclar list the Classic as the top of the line, having double roller bearing construction, polished and nickel plated main body, green anodized top and bottom sections which screw off giving it a different body profile. It uses a 16oz powder bottle and throws 6 to 120 grains, priced at 340.00

The Premium has needle bearings built into each side of the metering insert which they claim gives it the smoothest fell of any powder measure. The body construction is polished aluminum and it doesn't have the removable top. It also uses a 16oz threaded powder bottle and throws 6 to 120 grains and is listed at 250.00

The bottom model is called the Custom 90, uses a 8oz bottle and throws 6 to 90 grains, they do not mention bearing construction and the metering system is four clicks only. It's listed at 190.00

I own the Premium and am very pleased with it, I sure couldn't justify spending the extra 90.00 for IMO is mostly looks. You'll also want to purchase a Sinclair powder measure stand, it's well made and is as handy as a pocket on a shirt, it list at 42.95

I have 2 premium harrels now and had a third that was the classic and I have had a couple problems with them but resolved both issues
over the last couple years...one problem was bridging over the drop tube with semi bulky powders but fortunatly my secone measure has been set up for black powder and has a replacment aluminum hopper
and a brass drop tube....The brass drop tube makes a world of difference, more uniform loads,no bridging regardless of grain shape
and super accurate.....the tiny hole in he lexan drop tube is too small and creates problems......the second problem is using black powder in the measure that was set up for black powder but this
issue happened with black powder as the Harrel boys didnt use SS barrings and the hydroscopic nature of black powder drew minute
amount of moisture that rusted one of the bearings and when I sent
it back Walter gave me some lip about putting water in the measure
but they replaced the bearing and it works great..they make a good measure but arn't too swift about chemestry.....I wouldn't sell either of mine and they are totally relyable...Ron Oates/Montana Outfitters
