harrell custom powder measures

Hi there could some one tell me about the harrell classic culver powder measure at 350.00 dollers that sinclair selling
What do you think of them Are they worth it please

I have also wondered about that. Currently, all my reloads are weighed. If I had a reliable, +-.1g measure, it would at least reduce my varmint cartridge load time. I would still weigh target charges but throwing a load nearer the desired weight would help there, too.

H4350 is tough to throw consistently. RL17, H4895 and Varget are better, but my Redding measure cannot throw them better than +-.3, unacceptable when shooting near maximum. The only powders I have that throw +-.1 are ball or spherical; WW748, H335, AA2520 and AA2700.

I use an Acculab 123 that can resolve .02 grain, so variances are readily detectable.

I had one classic culver and 2 of the culver measures and couldn't
tell the difference between a regular culver with bearings and the
classic one so sold the Classic and kept the other two..As far as I'm concerned these measures are the best out there....I spent a weekend with a Pact scale checking a Harrell,Belding&Mull, Lyman and RCBS measures to see who's was most consistent and the Harrell
won out........There was one problem with the Harrell and that was
bridging with pencil powders but they make a brass pistol drop tube that has a bigger hole in it and this issue goes away but ball and
short stick powders it's a dream.........

It all lies in the technique used and how diligent you are with consistently operating the handle....and on this opinions vary widely.
I believe you'll find the accuracy of the Harrells on par with the Redding BR 30...... the only benefit is Harrels has 'click' values and in Benchrest circles the charges are mostly referred to as number of clicks and not weight in grains.
Harrells rates all their measures as equal in accuracy, albeit the upper-end models use ball bearings and are supposedly smoother operating. The only advantage to the 'classic' is that it's prettier.
I prefer the BR model as it uses the larger Nalgene bottles, and Hodgedon 1 # cannisters).
