Years ago (90’s?) I can remember a custom rifle in a gun mag that was stocked in a nice wood of classic shape and had hardware to detach the butt for storage - the break was right in the pistol grip.
Does anyone know of hardware that would do that?
It seemed that rifle had a tapered dovetail, but I’ve heard of guys using an interrupted thread like a break down barrel, but have never seen the final result.
After a few years of regular photo searches, it’s obvious this is not a common feature, but it would sure be handy to carry a bolt rifle in a much shorter AR case.
To better visualize what I’m talking about, imagine a SMLE and rather than a long bolt, you simply push a small button and rotate the butt 90 degrees and it comes off in your hand, but instead of a SMLE the system would retrofit a standard wood stock.
