pretty sure I dont have enough brass to load for a trip

That was my concern on my first PD trip about 40 years ago. I even wondered if I could reload in the motel at night - no way! 12-14 hours in the field, supper and a beverage, clean rifles and no time/energy to reload. I always took at least 4 rifles and worked up to 700 rounds per rifle pretty soon. I did shoot down to 50 rounds left one trip. So, yes it is an investment in brass and components. Nobody counts the cost of rifles/barrels/scopes, right?

If I have it today I will use it. I'm not saving it for another time. We are not promised tomorrow. Plus it's only money, and you're not taking it with you when you go.

I took a truckload of guns and ammo the first time this year. Put a slight dent in ammo supply.
Came to my senses this time. Took 5 rifles and around 2-3k of ammo and hoped I would run out of something.
The only 17 I brought was the WSM. Had some calm enough days I wish I would have brought at least one of the center fire 17’s.
Mirage kick our rears most days more than the wind.
I was really surprised at how well the little 20 grain rimfire running around 3000fps, did in the wind out to 200 yards.
I have new thoughts on speed vs bullet weight when dealing with the wind. At least out to 4-500 yards.
I doubt I will ever have another 22-250. The 204 and 22BR leave little on the table.
