Hard Case Recommendations??

I am looking for a quality hard case for my new tubegun. Any recommendations?

This could be more Quality than you want, but give it a look. I have one just like it: http://www.boytharness.com/inventoryD.asp?item_no=40063&CatId={E51B4EB0-25BF-49E4-860D-5AAAD370D616}

Cabela's has them on sale for $149 - $159.

When I set this case along side the Pelican and SKB, then tried all the latches, compared the density of the foam, and the thickness of the exterior material, the Boyt stood head and shoulders above the other two. You can take this one to Africa, or drop it from a plane, if predisposed.

Are you using it for airline travel? If so look at Storm Cases.

Are you using it for to and from the car to range? If so look at Storm Cases.

I have a couple of SKB cases and really like them......For what thats worth.... ;D

I've got some of the big, heavy-duty cases(Storm, Pelican, Starlight) that I've acquired over the years. While they are definitely tough, I do not use them. They are just too big, bulky and heavy to be practical for me. Kind of like owning a tank, they are definitely cool, but there aren't a lot of times you really have a use for one. The only situations I could foresee using one would be shipping or travel.

For general transportation to and from ranges for matches or fun shooting, I usually use the cheap plastic plano-type cases or a nylon drag bag if it won't fit in a plano. My tube guns (Eliseo B1's) fit fine in the plano's even with 30+ inch barrels as the buttstock is easily removed.

YMMV

The Boyt is definately a tank. For $149 I think it was a good deal. It is heavy for sure, but it has wheels. Now if my stock would just get here I could cut the foam and take it to the range...

+1 for Pelican.

You can get either the center cut out foam for a custom fit for your rifle or they make a pluck and pull cube also.

Check out ebay as they have a few good deals on them there.

Check out yu-tube also and they have vidios on how to do the custom cut outs.

I think that my next will be an SKB 2R4909-5. They look really tough, not too wide, but just need to check that the rifle will fit...

I found a Starlight case at the pawn shop and bought the foam from the local Army & Navy store, it's a brute. I like the Pelican too but honestly, you can't beat the Plano Airglide for daily hauling. I trust it to carry anything I have to the range or dogtown.
