Harbor Freight gun case — looking for feedback

Howdy all,
I just checked with Pelican, their im3410 50" long inside measurement gun case is $349.99 plus shipping.
In all fairness, I sent an email directly to Pelican and their quote was $349 not the $360 the link states.

Condition 1 case 51" interion, is $259.95

Harbor Fright 50 3/8" inside $149.95

Does anyone have any experience with the Harbor Fright gun cases?
Thanks

I have a couple small Apache Harbor Freight cases for radios, not too bad actually. Unfortunately they have the pick pluck foam. The Pelican Vault line of cases is pretty decent for the price , not as expensive as the top line from Pelican, also not quite as rigid either. Better foam quality & latches in the Vault series as opposed to the Apache. For firearms, I'd suggest Pelican Vault over the Harbor Freight Apache line.

I have both the Harbor Freight and the Pelican. Is the Pelican better?...probably. Is it a night and day difference?...no. For what I use them for, I would save the money and buy the Harbor Freights again. If I was flying with it, I would probably use the Pelican because I have it. If I didn't have one, I don't think I would buy one just to fly with it.

I have the big Harbor Freight case. Solid as a rock but very heavy. Empty it's 22 pounds. Most of my rifles are 10 to 14 pounds so because of the overall weight I don't use it much. They have replacement foam for it and ships very quickly.

My HF case experience matches this - heavy, and the wheels take a beating on gravel. The upside is it's big enough to swallow a 28" barrelled action in a Choate Sniper stock and was under $100 on sale w/ a coupon.

It reminds me of my SKB case, which are excellent imo

Rifle cases:
On the road: Bought the HF Apache rifle case for grandson to take some family rifles home in his truck.....heavy, heavy but has wheels.
Flying: Read several reviews that if the HF Apache rifle case is dropped on the locks, the plastic latches break. No personal experience

Smaller Cases:
Have a smaller HF Apache case for a handgun and 6 magazines. Heavy but very solid. The pluck out foam leaves gaps and individual blocks start coming loose through use until there is no ouline making it un-usable.
IMO pluck out foam is not as desirable as solid foam that you can draw a outline for your firearm and get a secure fit.

I have a few double rifle cases, Pelican and SKB.
I thought it was a great idea initially, with two 25-35lb+ rifles it is not for the weak to tote around. Yes the both have wheels.
There are several soft cases I would like to try, but I keep from it. I would end up with the same deal as I have with holsters over the years, a drawer full but only 1-3 I use.

I have the Harbor Freight case and as other have said heavy but in the three years i have had it no problems and it gets bounced around pretty good. The foam is lesser quality compared to Pelican so I did spray the foam insert on both sides with the Plaisti Dip once it was cut out for the rifle which helped.
