Handloading for the .223 AI

Wondering if anybody has any pet loads or should I say very accurate loads for this caliber?
Graymist was a great source of loads and fireforming before his post disappeared off the web. I was able to grab screen shots of his loads before they were gone forever (without the photos). I also have some blue dot loads for 223, that you could adjust for your AI. PM me if you want either.

P M sent Thanks.

Fireform loads for the 223 AI tend to be 1.0 to 0.5 gr under max load.

Every barrel is different, so, start low and work your way up. Shoulder should be formed after firing.

I have just received mine built on a Stiller Tac 30 with a 24” ABC barrel with a 1-7” twist. My hope is that I will be able to work up a load for the Berger 85.5 Hybrid. Any idea of potential powders and range of loads? Primer choice? Brass will be Lapua. Not trying to hijack this thread ,hopefully I’m not, but help would be appreciated.

I just worked up a load on mine 25.4 grains of H4895 and is pushing them at 2955 fps. Barrel is 28” 7 twist.

I run moly 53 V max in mine....9T Pac Nor

Use H4895....Benchmark......IMR8208

For me summer of '19 was a dud in the p/dog fields

Reloader 15 23.5 grains. Sierra Matchking 77gr HPBT. Federal 205 M primer and Winchester brass shoots consistent 1/4 MOA out to 700 yards from my surgeon 591 r action, krieger 1x8 x28 inch barrel sitting in HS precision stock. I have over 1200 rounds down the tube and still capable of 1400 yard steel targets. Muzzle velocity 2950. You can easily push faster due to increased case capacity to 3090 but accuracy suffers, at least with current powder. Lapua brass wasn't available when I had mine built, would be the only component I would change at this point. Enjoy the cartridge.
I have yet to see a more accurate load from my 223 improved I love that combo reloader15 / 77 gn hpbt.. Looook OUT!! HAHA.. I do find I prefer the Remington 7 1/2 SRBR primers, but definitely try them all oh I have a 26" Pac nor tank barrel haha.. 1in7 twist

I don't know what max cfe223 load would be in your A.I. chamber but i shoot a 12 twist 223 and 64 grain berger's with 27- cfe223 it is a perfect load, hot but not too hot. The 64 berger is discontinued so the only other one they make close is their 60 grain berger, that is what I'll have to use now and it will probably be 1/2 grain more cfe223. So if you loaded this 60 grain in your A.I. your starting load could be like 27.5 going up to probably about 29 or so ? I can tell you that the best accuracy will be at or close to your max loads.20191201_200829.jpg
