Handgun loading quick Q

I started loading handgun 357 after a 40 yr hiatus. All is good but wondering why I can see where the bullet base ends in the case, but I can't with factory ammo. All the brass I have used so far is new starline. Redding sizing die.

The sizing die is sizing too much below bullet diameter. The expander isnt going down as far as the bullet base also. I use mighty armory dies whenever i can. They dont do this to my handgun ammo.
A bullet not started straight will show more on one side than the other also.

In addition to what SeabeeKen says, the thicker case walls of some brass can exaggerate it. I see it with most of my carbide sizing dies. With older steel dies I don't. At least with my dies, I think it has to do with the carbide ring ID being less than the ID of a full-length steel die. It's unsightly, but in my experience it doesn't affect performance or case longevity.

As others noted this is due to the sizing die and is not unusual. It does not affect the ammo at all and in some hi cap magazine guns it actually helps in feeding..
