Hand loaded 22lr is going to happen!

Wedgy the RCC brass has the primer pocket in the center of the case, am i right in thinking that a rim fire rifle would have to be modified to work cause the firing pin would not hit the primer????

That center fire 22lr, he went through all that trouble to get back to 1080 fps with a 40gr bullet. Seems like a lot of work to get back to square one, but I am not sure what shape bullet he used in the end.

I am interested to see how fast that 49gr bullet goes before the case ruptures. Reading the SAAMI rimfire spec, 24000 psi is the maximum average pressure for 22lr and the min/max proof loads are 31000/34000 psi.

Slight interest here, more so in the fact that you are loading your own than I am the bullet.

I have been speculating that the next step in 22LR will be primed brass and home reloading OR that manufacturing will produce a heavier 45-50 grain standard vel round to increase performance.
If we see the home reloading option we might well see some true breakthroughs in bullet design as well as accuracy.

With the high interest in prs/nrl 22 events I will bet you we will see some changes coming down the pipe.

Some of the rimfire rifle games have (had?) fairly stringent rules on ammunition - even specifically stating “no pulled bullets, no reloaded ammunition”. As a regular participant, I hope that there are modern advances in what is an antiquated design. At the best of times, the lot to lot variations are terrible, even in premium ammo. I hope I live to see non-heeled, jacketed, consistent .22lr ammo!

I’ve designed this bullet for 22lr elr mostly. There is a back thought about prs because it’s designed to be able to feed out of a 22wmr mag.

what disciplines are those rules stated in?

I guess so but I have a Contender pistol that can switch from rim to center strike. I'm not really sure what the purpose of the center primer in a rimfire case design is though

My friend GetRDid has loaded 30 caliber bullets of the same design. I asked him about the bullets, because of the step-down into a boat-tail. But I have not seen them in 22 caliber.
Pretty sure there isn’t a bullet out there with this same design. Unless you’re talking about a heeled bullet. In that case, those bullets are generally a rebates boattail design. Pretty sure Tubb has a rbt on his bullets

You guys have it over on me with those bullets. I drifted away from lead-core bullets, some time ago and use only lathed solid coppers, with pressure bands.
It may have been a heeled-bullet now that you mention it.
This bullet is a lathe turned copper solid
