Hand dies?

Going to make the switch.
Is the Sinclair kit the way to go?
Stainless worth the extra?
Anything else I'll need?
Any and all help is appreciated.

Howdy !

If by the term ' hand dies ', you mean handloading w/o use of a bolted-down heavy reloading ' press '; here's one way to go:

Use a hand-operated press like a Lee ' hand press '.
These are simple, low-cost, robust; and do the job.
They accept traditional style shell holders, and are threaded to accept common type threaded dies.

I've gone to exclusive use of the Lee hand pr4ess for all my reloading. Yes.. they ARE handy for mobile reloading, loading at the range; et al. But, I alos use them for loadiing @ the bench at home.

Another mice thing is: you can afford to dedicate one to shoudler bump & neck size; and one to bullet seat.
, I myslef don't FL sise precision brass anymore, but Lee hand dies are cheap enough that one could be $$$ and dedicated to FL size only. THese are compact units.

' Run-out ' of my Lee hand tool assembled loads has been just fine. That's more of a die-relaed question. Certainly, load run-out I've seen has not been adversley affected by my use of Lee hand presses.

I only use my Rockchucker press now, for wildcatting brass
, case forming ). I use Lee dies for my wildcatting efforts.

I've also gone exclusive use of Hornady ' Custom-Grade New Dimension ' dies. Lonnie Hummel in Hornady's custom die dept
is quite knowledgeable; and very easy to deal with.
Heir dies are comparatively low cost, of great quality; and assemble superb loads. Load run-out numbers are fine.

I especially like their ' Micro-just ' bullet seater die top, and their seater dies modular design. My Hornady shoulder bump / NS dies accept Wilson-style bushings.

Hornady's turn-around times for both custom stuff and stocked items is superb !

The system I've discussed is great way to go !

Best of luck in your endeavors.
