Hall Actions

Halls are very good action. There bolt lift after firing are heaver than BAT, Kelby, Stiller, etc. All said they are great actions.

My first BR gun was a 6ppc on a Hall M action and I still have it, now in a 6BR. I have the prior owner's records. This action has about 15,000 rounds thru it and is still going strong. I did install a new mainspring about 3 years ago. My bolt lift is fairly easy.

Only problem that I am aware of is bolt lug galling. The bolt and receiver are made from SS. Keep them lubed and it will work fine.

I have one in rimfire, and I can say that the Hall action is the smoothest action of all the rimfire rifles that I own. This list includes several Winchester 52's ,an Anschutz, a Time Precision, and a few Remington 40x's .45/70SS

I also have one in rimfire. I shoot IR-50/50. I have number 7 (7th one made) and it still functions like a new one and as far as I know has never had anything changed on it.

I have three of the "M" versions. All same configuration RBLP. Work perfectly. Serial numbers are spread out all over. No problems. Alan Hall has been building these a long time and I expect he will go on building them. Not as popular as they once were but actions come and go in the world of Benchrest. One time Hall, then Farley or now it's BAT. Drop ports are popular now. Just something new or different.

What ButchLambert said about lubing is true on any of the stainless or Alum actions. There just built with no slop and need grease.
