H4350 ???

I was loading some 105 VLDs with Varget and 4166 in my BRDX 28 inch and had some H4350 and just thought I would try it,
started with just pouring the case full to the bottom of the neck and it will hold 36 grs without a drop tube,,
I backed up and started at 33.5 and worked up to 35.3 and at 100 yards the 35 and 35.3 groups were in the high zeros/low ones,,

I never see H4350 in any of the BR improved loads used lists but I believe I will give it another try and stretch it out to 600/800 yards and see how it goes,

I dont have a chrono at present and didnt think the BRDX would hold enough 4350 to get top speeds and pressure but would like to hear from someone who has tried H4350/RL17 in a Dasher ,BRX or BRDX

any pros or cons to using a slower than usual powder,,

I shoot H4350 in my dasher I find it to be 30' faster then varget with lower pressure
We have several shooting H 4350 but we use a long drop tube with a slow pour.
36.6 gr with 105 .
If you use Ql you will see varget Rl 15 and many others. they get 95% of speed between 9''and 11'' H 4350 is 17'' . Larry

gonna give it a try with the 105 Scenars,,I have 3 rounds loaded ever .3 grs from 34 to 36.4,,waiting on snow to melt,,

I just like to tinker around with different loads,,I was surprised at how much H4350 the BRDX will hold,,I know it is different than the 6.5x47L but with the 123 Scenars I had much better luck with a case full of H4350 than either of the faster powders,,it clocked right at 3,000 and had the best ES and SD numbers of any load I have ever shot,,

mr.big, you have inspired me to take some H4350 next outing and use it with the 108 Bergers. That bullet usually takes around 1/2 grain less which should work out good.

I have a 6x47L reamer on the way and the plan was to use H4350 and Berger 108`s, may just give it a go in my TAC 40 case.

Too bad the 4350 I have is IMR, I have 8 lbs. of it. Looking for powder for the BRX I'm having built.

Maybe not. I have seen acouple of situations where IMR4350 works just as well as H4350. If you already have it, give it a try.

I previously had a 6x47L and it shot IMR4007SSC pretty darn good. It also shot IMR4831, and Ramshot Hunter. Best 3 powders on my first barrel.

Re: 4350 ???

Thanks Tony, I'll try IMR, soon hopefully.

Just for grins I tested some yesterday in my 6mmDasher. Only shot at 100 yds but promising. 108 Bergers-36.2gns best group (3 shots)-3013fps-0 sd-0es- magneto speed Chrono-one hole.
Gun is a Panda w 31.5" Brux 1x8 tw
First time I have ever had all three shots exactly the same.
Will do more testing with h4350 and the Dasher.

Those of you who tried H4350 in your BRXs and Dashers, how was fouling compared to Varget? Do you think the nodes were wider with the slower burning powder?

from what I seen in my Dasher there's no difference in fowling . the nodes look to be 0.4g wide.
it gives good speed and great ES & SD #'s. the 108's bug hole , just wish I could get the JLK's to shoot the same.

Mr.Big I see they have changed your postings around somewhat!

Have you done any more testing with the H4350 vs Varget or whatever?

I have been very interested as I am sure many are also.

I unscrewed the BRDX barrel and trying to save it for better conditions,,sending it back for a Vias brake and will resume in a couple weeks,,

will have a magnetospeed by the time barrel gets back also to test with,,,

Going to give the H4350 a try in 6br as we'll, varget stash is running dry, and have 8 lb of the h4350. Will post results at 200yd.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Big. You seem to have everything in order as to finding the solution to what you are looking for!
I sincerely believe with your determination you will succeed, at least I sincerely hope so!!

I'm in the "stage" of finding the powder I want, with no luck in my area!!

Take care.
