H4350 Vs N550 Vs N150

I,m starting to work up loads for my 22 BRX/ 90gn sierra. I like the Vihta Vouri powders for their clean burning, but as others have mentioned with N540,the ES can be pretty high unless the presure is way up and it can be a little unpredictable. How does N550 compare? Does it show wide ES spreads unless pushed to maximum? Is N150 more predictable? I dont need huge velocities, but would rather give up velocity for small ES figures, consistency and clean burning.
How does H4350 compare with the Vihta Vouri powders as far as clean burning, consistency?
Has anyone here done many comparisons with these powders?

I am wondering the same thing ? I have 550.

Mate,

H4350 is ADI2209, just made down the road from you and repackaged by Hodgdon. I've used that and N550 and much prefer the latter. more consistent between lots and much cleaner burning. When I've done load development with both I've not noticed any peaky pressure spikes from N550, just a fairly regular step with increases in load volume, but I don't keep pushing till the primers start falling out, stop when I feel or see evidence of ejector marks on the case head although that was in 6.5x47's which may be more forgiving than the 22BRX. I would have tried N150 if N550 didn't work out as well as it did, also using it in the 6BR with 105 grain bullets when Varget (ADI2208) was showing pressure signs.

Richard.

I've used N550 in the .260 with 139 Lapuas, a 2001 factory Savage. Blew primers at 41.0gr in 2002 when the temps hit 90's. Dropped it to 40.0gr and it still did the same thing. Had considered using N560, but tried H-4350 instead.

I now use H-4350 and 142SMK with an upper limit of 43.9gr. Roughly 2850 FPS out of an L-W 28" 1:8" barrel in the same Savage action. Some moderate pressure signs, Hodgdon calls 44.5gr MAX with that bullet.
