H4350 alternatives

Loading for a 6.5 Creedmoor where the only published data for it is from Hornady. Their factory loaded rounds use H4350, 42.5 grains with their 120 AMAX's. I want to try a different, but locally easily available powder, not RL 17 or 100V. So the real question is where to start grains-wise when I use Varget or H4831sc. About the same number of grains or a bunch less? I have a fair amount of crono data and have tested to the top,and too far beyond) of the pressure of the chamber with 4350. How can I use this data when cross referencing to different type of powders?

Yep, Ramshot Hunter will work great.....I use it,well, actually its called Data 85 in the jug I pour out of, but thats what it is) in the 6XC and it will do the same in the 6.5C. You will need more of it, probably, to run in the 6.5C but it will be close. And, like Rhino said, it meters great!

You will probably need less varget. Just start low, work up slowly. Based on my experimentation, you will have primer leaks before you reach pressure that does really bad things. That is, if you are using the soft base Hornady brass.

I am learnng the hard way about soft brass and working up loads. What would hold at one reload won't seem to work on the next relading. I have since thrown out my old ladders and started from scratch with much lower grain counts. I'm not sure if I can get Ramshot Hunter locally, but I'll look.

I use 42.5 gr. H4350 in a 260 rem with a 140 gr. bullet. Not saying this is safe but with the similiar but slightly smaller case use 260 rem 140 gr. data but use a 120 gr. bullet and work up slowly. It might be a good starting point. Data 85 has also worked good for me but not as good as H4350 and H4831.

Keep this post alive please!! I need data for the 6.5 creedmoor using 120gr bullets. I want to use RE17, H414, H4350, Varget. Need help!!!! Lee

4064 and rl-15 are a little fast for the cartridge. Velocity is a little low with heavy bullets when max pressure is reached.
