H414

Anyone use this powder much? I have not found a secret load with it yet and I have a keg taking up space on my shelf and wanted to know what you all thought of it before I sell it. It meters perfect, and I was hoping one of my PD rifles would love it.

H414 is my go to powder in my 22-250's and my 22-250 AI's. Also shot it in my old 220 swift. I shoot 55 grain ballistic tips out of all.

Great shooting powder and you should easily be able to find a home for it in a prairie dog gun.

Well my 223 ' s shoot H335 my 22-250 and ackley ' s shoot H 380 and 4320 or R15, now I have a 6slr coming would it be worth a try in it?

Slower burn rate than the H380 you've used , some would call it the ball version of 4350.

Could possibly be a tad too fast for a 6slr but that might depend what bullets were being used.

Used it with great success in many 22-250's and have even used it in a 6.5x47 with 120 class bullets (Varmint rig)

Not as temp stable as some of the other extruded powders but certainly worth a try if you're sitting on a large quantity.

Good luck.

Howdy !

For info:
H414 and WW760 are the same powder. Maybe some WW760 load data might help ?

Note that H414 works well with a bunch of calibers, basically anything that you can use 4350 in. The only thing to remember is that you need to use a magnum primer or results will suck. Very accurate powder with magnum primers in a lot of applications. Meters super.

I am another happy user . Shoots best groups in my .22-250 H414, W760 ,Accurate Arms 2700 are from the same keg

I personally don't care for it as it's very temp sensitive and dirtier than a miner after a 12hr shift but if you have a jug of it shoot it as it's as accurate as any other powder with the proper load. Keep a good log and clean a little more often and you'll be fine.

Huh! Im going to have to try that !

Awesome in a 243 w/ 70gr SMK or Nosler Ballistic Tips - super accurate. Never had an issue with standard primers, but use mostly CCI BR-2.

You do not need to use a Magnum primer. I have shot thousands of rounds in all weather extremes with H414 and BR-2's out my guns.

I used it in my 243AI and 22-250Imp. Both shot great but I had a problem with my barrels carbon fouling. My 243 got so bad it had to be lapped to get it out. The other thing I didn't like about it was that there was a lot of difference in vel. between summer and winter. SO this is why I have gone away from it. I think if you are aware of it and really get after your barrels with a brush when you clean you will be alright. That was my experience with it anyway....
