H380 in the AR10-DI

Ive gotten a couple of good sized boxes os Nosler and Sierra BTHPs in,168 & 180 gr., guess the pipeline is starting to refill slowly. I found a few jugs of H380 on the back of the shelf, from another time, and I was wondering if anyone has used this powder in an AR10 / 308 rifle. My most recent experience with it has been in a couple of MN 91/30s, in which the results were near fantastic. I don't see many listings for it in the manuals, but where its listed the performance seems good. Is it compatible with the AR10 DI system.?

H380 will let the bullet leave the barrel. Will you hit the target . If it is under 10 yards yes. Over that good luck. H 380 and a 308 go together like Obama and the NRA

Not true. I recently developed a load in .308 26" barrel using H380 and Norma SPT 180gr bullets. The result... .5 MOA or less at 100 yds.
Avg. 2520 fps.

That clears things up……? It does sound as though H380 may be on the slow side. Ill have to try a load in my Win brass, its the lightest of all the cases I have-almost a 30 grain range, Winny thru IVI.

+1 on finnaddict. I've had great results with H380 and both 168 & 180gr SMK Loaded at 45 and 44gr respectively.

Now, this was in rem700 26" heavy contour 1:12 not an AR.

I'd LOVE to have one of those jugs you found!

Re: H380 in the AR10-DI/ results

Managed to do some shooting today, and worked up a load for today. Wind NNE5-12mph, about 1/4 value, temperature 30-32*F, and overcast. LC cases, wgt around 181gr, CCI 250 primers. Started w/168 SierraMK worked up from less than 45 gr. Had astonishing vertical at 340yds. as much as 8". worked up to 47+ grains and vertical dropped to < 1". Tried a 3 shot w Nosler 168CC and vertical was around an inch, horizontal 2 1/4". H380 seems a tad slow ,but the POI was superimposed over groups w/Varget and RE15, so I guess the velocity is similar. Ill give it a try w/ 175s in a few days. Just too unpleasant to set up the Chrony and dither around w/ it. Ill do that on the days when I can feel my fingers. TR I only found 2 1pounders and there are 3 shooters in the family, otherwise I might share.
