H1000 vs N565 vs N560 burn rate?

N560 is close to H4831sc and N565 is close to H1000. Remember, the Hodgdon line can have pretty large swings in burn rate. If you have a "fast" lot of H4831sc and you run out and buy another jug, you MIGHT end up with a "slow" lot. The change in charges to get back to your velocity node COULD go well over 1.0 grain>>>I have heard on some lots nearing 2 grains difference. Conversely, if your load is with a "slow" lot and you are at the upper node, and buy another lot of H4831sc, you could end up with serious pressure! It can happen with H1000 and say H4350, however, I have not seen swings quite as large as with H4831sc>>>but their lot-to-lot consistency is not real good either! So BE CAREFUL!

H4831 has been fairly consistent the past several years. I use lots of it all the time in different cartridges.
However, Vihtavuori is super consistent lot to lot decade to decade.

I am still in load development for a .300 win mag and was eager to get some VV565. I was very disappointed as the velocities were over 150 fps slower than H1000 and RL26.

back to your original question....

Yes... N-565 is the closest Vihtavuori powder to H-1000

N-570 feels closer to Retumbo.

Are you looking for specific data that you can't find on line ??? Maybe one of us can help

@Zero, no sir.

Just looking for information for reference.

My local "gunshops" per se dont carry much on hand and mail order is PITA to California.

So just trying to get the most information I can to cut down on wasted time/effort/$$.

Thanks!

I shot N565 today in my 7 saum. Charge ended up within .2 grains of my H1000 load for same exact speed. It’s a single base powder, it doesn’t give the top speeds like 26 and N570 do. It’s a good option for a H1000 substitute.

All the VV powders in te 5xx series are double base powders containing nitroglycerine that includes the new 565, and 555 variants too.

N570 sure adds some speed. But I have tried N565 in (3) different rifles/chambering and it’s always on par with H1000
