H S Precision Recoil Pad

I recently purchased a PSS 010 stock from HS Precision for my new 30-06. I guess I have become a softy to recoil after a few years of shooting smaller caliber rifles. The pad on this stock is as soft as the desk my keyboard is sitting on! So, is the current pad screwed or glued on? I also need recommendations for a different(softer) pad. I shot the rifle 66 times yesterday and the stock pad has got to go.

I had a 6.5-06AI built not too long ago. I had an older from 35+ years ago H-S Precision stock that I had the builder put a Pachmayr decel pad on. Makes a big difference. Since I like extra length I had him put a spacer in as well. He just added them to the old pad. Can't see it all that well in this pic, but I can take another if needed.

OK. So, I just did some Internet surfing and it seems that one of the ways to remove the current pad is to place a screwdriver on the pad at an angle and hit it with a hammer!?
To remove the old one and I assume you don’t care about damaging it put the rubber in a vise with the stock pointed up rock it side to side it will pop right off I’ve already done it

Putting the stock in a deep freeze first has the pad pop right off with the first tap.
I don’t understand why all the HS stocks supplied to the likes Rem & Win have Pachmeyer pads, but there own do not?!

Cheers.

I have one for my Model 70 375 Bee that definitely does not have a decelerator on it from HS. It looks and feels exactly like a Mike’s pad used on factory Win rifles of the 90’s. It is hard as a cats head...hence I took it off and glued a decelerator on there. Much nicer!

Cheers.
