H&R M12 Ken Viani Scope Mount available again?

Saw an ad for an H&R M12 scope mount. Ad states it's the mount once made by Ken Viani! Company is scopemounts.com. I didn't see the mount on the website but the ad states to email them at comments@scopemount.com, nicole_skscopemounts@yahoo.com or call at 800-578-9862. I have no affiliation with the company so can't comment on quality, but I do have the original made by Ken Viani and its very nice. Its an extended rail so prone/sling shooters can mount the scope farther forward. The mount also accepts iron sights (not many of us iron sight shooters left LOL) so you can switch from scope to irons without changing the mount.

Has anyone shot their rifle with the mount installed yet? I'm having intermittent ejection problems. Sometimes the fired case bounces off the angled part of the mount and the fired case falls back into the receiver, facing both forward or backwards . Then other times it ejects the case normally.

SK ammo is being used. Does it whether I work the bolt slow or fast. The rifle was NIB/unfired when I bought it. Shooting it before mount installed worked like it should 100% of the time. Any idea's on a fix?

Thanks,
Bill

Does any part of the mount cover any portion of the ejection port???
Pic of the right side, might help....

I've never had any ejection issues with my Ken Viani scope base that I bought for a CMP Win 52D, and I bought mine back around 2005-2007, when the CMP was still selling recalled 52Ds. I don't recall now whether Ken had started making his mounts for the H&R M12 when I had mine. I'm pretty sure I had a scope mounted on that rifle, but don't have a clue now as to what scope mount I used on it. I traded my M12 to Mac Tilton for a nice Anschutz 1611 early in 2004, and just don't recall that much about it - except that the stock was a club, and I wasn't pleased with it, even though the rifle was a pretty decent one.

Can you see 'markings' where the brass is hitting???
No brass marks, but the brass definitely is hitting the under side of the mount as viewed by another shooter at eye level with the chamber area. I even moved the scope ring to the front of the chamber area which didn't help.

Looks like it could be the ring base. Personally I don’t care to see the bases near the port anyway if it can be avoided.
If you have one, use your phone or a friends to shoot a close up video while ejecting. You can enable a slow motion feature on the iPhone that may help. You can scrub the video back and forth to help see where/how the problem occurs.

will this mount up on a winchester 52D without any modifications?
If your front/rear sight blocks are a match for the M12 iron sights, I would think the mount should work. Put in a call to Nicole and ask if it will work.

I had already moved the ring to the forward slot on the rail, over the chamber and they still hang up now and then. My next move will be to have the port area of the rail underneath milled down .067/1/16 and increase to .125 if the brass needs more clearance.

Nope, hole spacing on the barrel is different. I have several of Mr. Viani's mounts on my 52D's and had two of his mounts on H&R M12's. I did not have any issues with ejecting spent cases.

The port is too small this is why it has ejection problems. I made my own mount, and it had zero problems. note how much more open the port area is. you need to mill the area bigger.

I had the underside of the mount recessed .125 and the problem still exists. I'm now wondering if the problem is due to a very stiff moving right side extractor. The left side is a lot looser than the right so I may swap out the springs to see if that helps.

I also noticed that the ejector is screwed in from the bottom and wonder if it can be adjusted up/down.

The loading tray is held in place by the screw. the ejector is part of the tray. FYI, the lug that acts as the bolt stop on the bolt may drag against the tray if you raise it.
