H&K VP9L optic ready

Anyone own one or very familiar with one? I like the big 9s and have a few FNs (my EDC is an FN fns 9c), this will not be and EDC! Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks

I have a VP9 sitting here but I don't know anything about what would make it optic ready. What would you like to know?
Well, does it live up to the hype? Any feed issues? Are you reloading for it? To be optic ready it has a cut out on the slide where optic goes or keep the part in and use sights. My FN FNX 45 is optic ready (has optic on it really).

I have the Long slide plus the original VP 9 LE. Out of the box, it was a super nice pistol. It is even better than my P30. Both slides are not optic ready. However, recently I changed a couple of springs in the trigger group and the P30 has now a competition-ready trigger. 3.75 lbs pull

I like it. It only had feed issues when I was shooting lighter "range" loads and the shooter wasn't holding their wrists firmly.

I chose it because it was a full size pistol and the best trigger out of all of the ones on the shelf (I bought it pre-pandemic so there really were options to compare with). It also has excellent ergonomics with interchangeable grip plates.

Based on what I can tell mine does not have a optics ready slide. I do have a spare barrel with threads for suppressor.

I did handload for it, but being a rifle guy, the process got old on my single stage press.

I Have a VP 9 but with night sights. Kind of partial to 1911’s when I shot a lot of pistol.
I really like the VP . Use for EDC. It’s a nice shooting gun for not being a 1911 trigger wise and 15 round capacity plus the fact you can change the back straps is great for me. Very comfortable to shoot and plenty accurate , well made. I would buy again. Probably have shot 500 rounds thru it ,reloads and factory hollow points, no feeding issues .

Mine is not optics ready.
Night rear sights.
I reload for all my guns.
I've was loading 115gr Sierra JHP over Silhouette.
Recently picked up some 90gr & 125gr Sig V Crowns.
Loading them over Alliant BE86.

The VP9 didn't seem to care for the 90gr bullets.
But it loves the 125gr bullets.

Using an Urban Carry Leather Lock OWB.

I'm to fat to use and IWB, I would have to have 2-3" bigger pants!!

The new VP9 is Optics ready and a real bad ass gun. I had the older one and it shot amazingly
well with factory ammo...
My buddy just got the new one with the Leopold red dot...man it shoot shoots lights out for a stock
pistol....and the dot you cant miss with it.
I gave it 4 stars for a factory gun....

Thanks for that, I've been partial to FN for quite some time and the FN FNX 45 is/was the best factory gun (yes even the 1911s!!) out of the box I've ever owned.

I've been a H&K fanboy since 2004, but all my experience is with their hammer fired guns, USPc P30.

From 2004 to 2018 I tried to wear out a H&K USPc 40, in that time frame with > 21,000 rounds (I'm kinda anal about those sort of things) I experienced a broken firing pin & broken hammer strut. I never did any modified any of my (USP & P30) pistols just ran them as issued.

Recently I put finger prints on an OP-VP9sk at a local firearms retailer.
I really liked the piece and it is on my short list. It had the quality I've come to expect from H&K.
I do not thing you will be disappointed.

I'm with you there!
Seems like that was one of the biggest secrets when i first started carrying. Went through a lot of IWB holsters trying to find one comfortable.
THEN found out about going up in pants size. Big difference!

I too love my 1911!
Springfield Armory Champion.

While i really like my VP9, it really is no more or less accurate than my Walther PPS or my Walther PPQ in 45ACP or my 1911.

For the real outlayer.
None are more or less accurate than my Gen 1 Highpoint either.
Ugly as a brick! Cheap as all get out, $100 used.
But feed issues, along with weight keep it relegated to a range pistol.

For competition and accuracy, a nice 1911 is still the king.
Next are SIG X5 and X6 series
Followed by the CZ pistols and their clones

Here is my Para

I have a lot of experience with the VP9-L. It is a good pistol. Ergos are very tunable, it is very comfortable and easy to shoot. I like the paddle magazine release. The main thing to be cognizant of is that if the butt is bumped hard enough, the striker can release. The striker safety will prevent it from discharging, but you will have a dead trigger. If using the gun for self-defense, think getting knocked to the ground on your back may result in a situation where you have a defensive paperweight. For gun games, range use, etc, it is a fine gun! for defensive use, I'd lean toward the p30 if you prefer an HK 9mm.

Thanks for that info, my EDC is a FN fns 9c, this is a range gun mostly due to size! The 9C is striker fire but also double action.
