Rifle Purchase - Good or Bad decision

O K Guys, This may be a little late to find out the answers to, but I just purchased a .308 FN special police rifle,NEW) I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the rifle and if there are any particular things, good or bad) that I should expect to see? The rifle looks like it is built very solid and the 3 shot test group that was supposed to be fired in the rifle measures @ .317 after caliber deduction. Also, the trigger is very crisp but it is at about 4 lbs. I was wondering if anyone knew of a,good trigger man) to get this thing down to about 1 lb. or less. or is there an after market trigger that I could replace it with? Thanks in advance for all replies. Bill

You will love it - much better than the Rem 700 Police.

Use M70 scope bases.

Enjoy!

Thanks man. it came with a solid picatinny one pc. steel base. Does this thing have a Winchester trigger? I noticed the bolt is pretty much Winchester as far as I can tell. Bill

Alright. Good deal. You are correct. A jewel it is. Immediately. And I can even do that myself. I noticed on the barrel it has a 1 - 12 twist but I still should be able to shoot the 168 and 175 wt. bullets shouldn't I. Thanks, Bill

Alf, yea I got to thinking and remembered that I had shot some 180 Nosler BTs in another .308 with 1 - 12 twist a few years back. Thanks man. Bill

C'mon guys, ant knock the pss, min shoots low .2's all day. I do like the fn rifles too.

What load are you shooting in it? I have had several of those rifles and got some very good groups from some of them but I never had one that would shoot that consistant. The norm for all that I had was under .500 most of the time and occasionally one down in the .200s and .300s. but not very often. Bill

Kittywhacker,
About that keyboard - have you made sure that its keys are not rubbing on the frame and your mouse hasn't swallowed a furball?

Heck, my keyboard will now shoot aggies in the low .1"'s all day long after floating its keys and cleaning the mouse. Doesn't everybody's?

No "keyboard Shooter", one day for example, I shot a 5 rnd gp, @100yds, shot a .209, a buddy of mine shot right after me, and shot a .278, he had never shot the gun before, it will shoot! Why dont all you "s" talkers come see for your self.

OH, I have no doubt the rifle will shoot. I have had several of those rifles and they all shot very good, but you said yours would shoot in the .2s "ALL DAY" That I have a hard time believing. I have a 7mm Mag Sendero II that will shoot in the .2s but not all day. That kind of consistancy is BR and factory rifles just don't cut it without having some tuning and mods. done. I'm no benchrest shooter and do not compete in any competition except our little 20 oz. and 2 litre pop bottles filled with water at 500 and 600 yds. Would you like to shoot with us? Bring your .200 all day rifle. I live in S E N C about half way between Wilmington, N C and Myrtle Beach, S C Bill

Catshooter... I think the problem is not with your keyboard but that your mouse might have excess headspace. Raise the die the next time you resize your mouse and see if it helps. Now that I think about it, just necksize and quit bumping the shoulder, your mouse will appreciate it.....2's ALL day....right..not even in a vacuum. Regards...g
