H 450 Powder

H 450 is no longer made. I have 5 one pound jugs of this stuff. Was used for a 25-06. Any one have a starting point for my 6mmbr with H450 ? Thanks. Tommy Mc..

All the data that I've seen has it about the same burn rate as 4350. Of course start on the low end.

In all of the info that I have ever seen, burn rate charts and reloading data, H-450 is a fair amount slower than 4350. It is usually shown to be much closer to H-4831. It seems to be a little too slow for a 6mmbr.
It would have been more suitable in your 25-06. I have used it in 240wby and 257wby loads over the years.
Mag primers a good idea though.
Just my two dollars worth....

I saw all the replies about H450 being closer to H4350>>> But I used it quite a bit in one of the .270's I had. The "old" H450 was a shade slower than H4831. I used CCI 250's in it and it was excellent... I could "throw" powder RIGHT ON THE MONEY with that powder.... I also remember it gave exceptional velocities..

I still have some.... it seems to burn just a little dirty to me. I also used CCI 250's with it in my 240 wby. It does flow great in a measure and I got some really good accuracy using it. It still seems a little slow for the br case.

Gary in MD and Shoot Dots has got it right. I shot a lot of H450 back in the 80's and it is in the 4831 range or slower. Very dirty stuff but worked great in a powder measure. I used it in my 25-06 with 85 grain bullets but it was also very temperature sensitive, in the 30 some years I have been reloading I only blew one primer and that was using H450 on a hot humid day in WV.

I believe it would be W-A-Y too slow for the BR or any improved versions...
also very true Shoot Dots

Thanks guys. I didn,t think it would be good for a 6br. Ask and yee shal learn. Thanks for the input .. Tommy Mc..
