Guys with Wilson Trimmer, how do you deburr/chamfer?

Finally going to bite the bullet and get myself a Wilson trimmer. What would best complement it for the chamfer/deburr?

Currently heading towards the Lyman Case Care Kit, would this be appropriate?

While doing that order do yourself a favor and add their hand deburr + chamfer tool to the list. It is has the gription grid stamped and is much sharper and precise than the other brands. Will last longer too. For inside the neck I like the K&M VLD tool. A bit spendy but it cuts perfectly concentric. A must if you shoot flat bas bullets but good for all shapes. Otherwise the WIlson tool works great on the inside.

I use a rcbs center ...The hand held twisting sucked.
Vld style is a must.
I use The deeper pocket ( ppc) uniformer for all 30br 6bra 6ppc

Wilson has a VLD inside chamfer tool that fits in the case trimmer, slow but a dandy tool all the same.

I prefer a trimmer that does 3 way trimming, I use a cheap FA prep ctr for doing the primer pockets.I was trying to get away from the hand tools for deburring and chamfering and doing primer pockets, but, have to buy two pcs to do that, or using tumbling media that does pockets. Even with a Giraud or Henderson or 21st Century or Forster, still have the primer pockets to deal with. There is the FA prep ctr with the trimmer, but, I didn't like that unit for cartridge changeovers. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I have the Wilson trimmer. Love it. Works great for the occasional trimming that I do.


For the VLD type chamfer I'd get this one:



For deburring I'd get the hornady 4 blade. It's the nicest out of the 3 I have used (lyman, rcbs, and hornady). This tool is threaded the same as the lyman chamfer tool. So you can use both with one handle if you want.

I should add... with these hand tools. When you deburr or chamfer, if you have to twist more than 2-4 times, maybe 5 max, something is wrong. With these tools it should only take light pressure and not much twisting to prep a case.

I do mine by hand. I don’t use the Holland (far left) much since I made the carbide tools but it does work well. The carbide cut very well. It doesn’t take much at all to get a chamfer. I only use the RCBS tool for the outside.

I bought a couple chamfer tools that were compatible with the Sinclair drill mount tool that makes the hand held tool into a drill mount tool. I got two. And bought cheap $19 drills and Walmart. Zip Zip Zip and dun. Great for doing 1000 cases at a clip.

I have big hands and like the Lyman de-burring tool. BTW I recently purchased a Wilson trimmer and love it!

I put one of these in a drill.

Then I put a socket on it and stuff the socket full of steel wool.

I have been the little RCBS hand deburring/chamfering tool for 50+ years.. Quick, easy to use, gets the job done.

The last I heard though, it is not Blue Tooth Compatible.

Switched to the Forster 3 way (length, ID chamfer, OD chamfer) when it first came out.
