Guy's I need help

Old tech, old glass. Run, don't walk away from it.
Maybe. But my 2" 24x is the easiest and most comfortable scope to look through you could imagine. IMO it works better on a .22 target rifle than one of the newer style scopes mounted on the action-especially for indoor shooting. Outdoors on a centerfire I like the others better.

Unertl has a cult following, and they usually sell fairly quickly. Is it a Target model, Varmint model, or U.S.M.C. Sniper model? Back in the day, they were great scopes, considering the technology back then.

338, you should posts a picture or two with more info. Model number, power, etc etc. people can offer a little more help with a bit more information.

If it is an old low power model with some rust, busted reticle and shows a lot of wear then $3-400. If it is a late model 36X Programmer with Posa mounts, dot reticle, little to no wear on tube, no rust and with factory box and paper work then probably only $3K or so. Some with clean glass etc are as clear as modern glass. As mentioned, a 'cult' following for many especially small bore, single shot dudes etc but hardly a worthless dinosaur and in fact I would say good shape popular models are an investment if bought right! Of course just my worthless .02 cents of drivel this morning. :)

I have a 16X 1.5" here w/dot, late production, like new purchased from original owner who bought it at Perry in early 80's. Has all paper work, tools, original box etc and a grand wouldn't buy it today but under $200 when new.

Ok, look for any dents, look for the power rating on a flat spot on a ring towards the eye piece. Look through it and see if the crosshairs are present. Is there any fungus or moss in the lens (it will look blurry on the edges). Paint should be all consistent black (usually very shiny). Serial number is under the Unertl logo. That helps as well. Then send me an email at dickn52@yahoo.com and I'll try to find a buyer or at least give you a starting ask price. No matter what you may read here. They are of value depending on condition and very sellable.

Chuck...I got a 24X Redfield from you. Had all 4 different powers at one time but sold several. Still have one but can't remember if it is a 20X or the 24X I got from you???? Sold most of that stuff over the last 3 yrs since my stroke and not trusting myself to haul around and set up heavy rifles with heavy optics. Too clutsky and unstable anymore. Both mentally and physically.lol
