Gunsmiths

Putting together a 30BR Rifle. Looking for very good BR quality Gunsmith, knowing not all are equal. But one that deals Specifically with BR rifles. Preferably a smith in the NE District.

Alan Warner of Warner tool. He is next to you in NH. I have not used him, but know that he is pretty highly regarded. He is somewhere on this forum to. I cannot say what particular type of rifle he does tho.

I'm both a machinist and gunsmith. I went to school for gunsmithing in Murray state college. And had 3 semesters of machining. I know many gunsmith that do not have a lathe. It's all repair and stocking for them.

I would rather a machinist do the threading and clambering. They work with lathes everyday.
Your every day machinist may not know of the nuances involved with cutting a chamber. There's a difference between a "machinist" and a "gunsmith machinist". Many confuse the two. I am a gunsmith school grad, also. But I had 16+ yrs of job shop machining experience before I enrolled (Montgomery C C , class of '93). But, even though I am retirement age now, I still go to the machine shop for a few hours a day (where 'faster', but still to print, makes more money). I do a lot of barrel work in my 'smith shop, enough I'm not taking on any more until I can catch-up. Part of my backlog is S&W repairs and mods, and the hand fit and finish wood stock work I do, and the rust blue (shop rates $65-$75 if it's something I wanna "f" with). The things a "gunsmith" does! I considered Murry State when I was looking, choose MCC instead, as they went 'deeper' into the trade. Trinidad had a waiting list.
