Gunsmiths Experience With Prefit Barrels

There are many positive posts from shooters using Prefit barrels from CBI, McGowan, Shilen, etc. I've been pleased with those too, but I would not say I'm capable of shooting well enough to tell the difference vs a custom chambered. Have any of you smiths measured, borescope these to form an opinion vs a custom? I would expect doing this constantly all day would breed expertise, as long as there not a rush for quantity.

When you say prefit I assume your asking about those that use a Nut ?
In my experience , the quality of the interior of the barrel is the same as the a profiled or straight blank . As long as your receiver face and threads are reasonably true , you should be ok . But that last statement has nothing to do with barrel quality , more along the lines of end results . If you brought your rifle to a smith for a barrel and he checks it out and recommends truing you would benefit , if you installed a prefit and didn't realize your receiver threads or face was off you may assume you got a bad barrel . Not that your receiver is pointing it ( barrel ) off to the wild blue yonder

Have built rifles with all the barrels you listed plus Pac-Nor. CBI would be my choice. Great barrels.
