As a design engineer for 30+ years, that’s a hell of a good question. Few today truly understand creativity in the “engineering” sense.
How would an engineering degree help one know what tools gunsmiths are looking for?An engineering degree, and you have to ask , "Anyone have any ideas?". I think the University of Oklahoma might want their diploma back!
Good question, was wondering the same .How would an engineering degree help one know what tools gunsmiths are looking for?
Because market research is always a terrible idea. Directly asking your potential customers what they might like to buy? Even worse. An engineering degree, and you have to ask , "Anyone have any ideas?". I think the University of Oklahoma might want their diploma back!

There is engineering sense and engineering smarts. The two best "engineers" I know never spent a day in college. One works in wood, the other in metal. Their blueprints are lunch bags from Mcdonalds, or even chalk on the driveway, but they have made good livings surprising customers with their creativity. Of course, I may be easily impressed, I dropped out of engineering school after flunking calculus a few times.creativity in the “engineering” sense.
