I've never had a problem using an internal (rear-entry) wrench on a factory R700. The key is to prevent any non-axial thrust. This can be accomplished by backing up the breaker-bar with a suitable support. I use a 4x4 of adequate length to fit under the breaker-bar head and arrange the breaker bar so that that it is 20° or so above horizontal then jump up and bring all my weight to bear on the breaker-bar. They pop with a loud metallic snap, and you'd swear that something broke, but (knock on wood) nothing has broken so far.
